Thought for the Week

Several years ago, John Piper asked this question:

If you could have heaven, with no sickness, and with all the friends you ever had on earth, and all the food you ever liked, and all the leisure activities you ever enjoyed, and all the natural beauties you ever saw, all the physical pleasures you ever tasted, and no human conflict or any natural disasters, could you be satisfied with heaven, if Christ was not there?”

Or, as Francis Chan puts it more simply, "are we in love with God, or just His stuff?"

Are these questions as convicting to you as they were to me?

Just my thought to start the week...

This is one of my all time favorite quotes. It really makes you think. And I'm sure many don't want to think too hard about it because their answer might scare them.

Just getting ready to post a blog from Scott that mentions the same thing.

Wowzers. Something great to think on.

That's in "God is Gospel." It's an awesome book that deals pretty heavily with our loss of focus on God as the ultimate gift of the gospel. It's worth reading...along with every other Piper book.

How I need His grace. Thank you for sharing this.

'Just Give Me Jesus' as Anne Graham Lotz would say!
